“This space of instinctive, natural expression reaches beyond our institutions and hierachies. It lives in defence of love and loving and is essential for us as human beings.” – John Berger

In our modern world, it is very easy to become disconnected from the earth and each other. We are bombarded by screens and information which pulls our attention outwards and leaves little space for inner reflection. Practice creates a space to feel, to listen in and re-connect with our natural self. Once we are more connected with ourselves we can relate more authentically with others.

“Now I understand that there are two melodies playing, one below the other, one easier to hear, the other lower, steady, perhaps more faithful for being less heard yet always present”

– The Second Music, Anne Lighthart

Living in the fullness of your body, enjoying the feeling of being moved, this is the complete joy of yoga practice.

“There is a shimmering excitement in being sentient and shaped” – Form Is Ecstatic, Rumi

Through this there is a freedom that springs forth, which you then carry with you everywhere you go. Shedding what you don’t need, to reveal your bountiful natural expression, what could be more alive and beautiful than that?

“The only way to deal with an unfree world, is to become so absolutely free that your very existence is an act of rebellion” – Albert Camus

Yoga is a process of becoming more intimate with yourself. Taking the time to spend with yourself, as you would with someone you love. Turning towards all that you are with compassion, so that you can embrace wholeheartedly the fullness of your being. Leading us towards naturalness; no pushing no holding back. Letting the notion of perfection repeatedly give way to love. What are we cultivating? Love.

Weekly Classes

Weekly classes

Carly offers weekly yoga classes at her small and peaceful home studio (max 7 people) in Nether Edge and at Hagglers Corner (max 14 people). Classes are run on a half termly basis (6-8 week blocks). The underlying fundamentals of Carlys teaching are consistent, but each block focuses on developing one particular sequence of postures which allows for a progressive and in depth study of the sequence and theme. This enables students to really digest what they are practicing and also allows them to delve more deeply into the practice. All classes must be booked in advance.

One to One Yoga

If you are short on time or want to really hone in on a specific area, 1:1 yoga sessions are ideal. Sessions are 1 hour and can be tailored to suit your needs. As with anything, daily self practice is the best way to truly reap the benefits of a yoga practice. In 1:1 sessions I offer short digestible sequences that you can take away and work on, I often introduce a poem and there is time for questions and discussion around whatever is coming up for you.
