The Butterfly School

“I want to unfold, I don’t want to stay folded anywhere because there I am a lie” – Rilke

The Butterfly School is home to circles of women who wish to whole heartedly welcome all aspects of themselves. It is a process of deepening intimacy with your voice, body, creativity, sexuality, vulnerability and strength. A place where women can risk diving into the unknown landscapes of being as a pathway to liberation and transformation.

Butterfly is a mystery school that holds deep reverence for that wisdom which is both embodied within us and beyond us. Through movement, mudra, poetry, voice, yoga nidra, breathwork and creative enquiry this work invites us to new frontiers within ourselves, helping build courage to relinquish what we are not to become more of who we are.

Next year, 2021 will mark 7 years since the Butterfly work was seeded here in Sheffield and now it’s form is changing shape again. Over lockdown it has become clear to me that the Inanna – Erishkegal work is the work of now. So from 2021 the Heroine’s Journey will now form the main body of the work.

Therefore from 2021 Butterfly will be a 6 month initiation journey followed by a 9 month Heroine’s Journey.

The Initiation Journey takes us into the emotional, sensual, visceral and spiritual landscape of our being. Over 6 months we adventure into a different portal of our humanness beginning with womb wisdom, undressing the voice, breathwork, the wheel of consent, sexuality and pleasure and the naked heart. A key aspect of Butterfly is the inclusion of emotionality as a valid and vital part of being fully alive in our humaness and emotionality as a part of spiritual practice. The course invites us to the places within that have been calling out to us but that we never dared visit until now…

The Heroine’s Journey

In my darkest night I found this story and it saved me…..time and again I see parched women drink from it’s nectar and begin to thrive.

The Inanna Story is the map for our griefs, our births and the honouring of our cyclical earthly nature. Hearing it can nourish the parts of us that have been parched and lost for what feels like an eternity. This is a journey into the oldest known myth of the Goddess. Dating back about 5000 years the Inanna – Erishkegal Journey of descent into the underworld. Guided by the myth and magic of the dark feminine we come together to remember and relearn the old feminine wisdom in our flesh and bones. Creating a place to reclaim, grieve, breathe, dance and voice what has not been allowed or known, to journey home to our cyclical and sensual sovereignty.

September 2021 – June 2022 only open to those who have done the Initiation Journey. Dates TBC.

If you have questions they are most welcome. I look forward to hearing from you.

Wildlife and the Wild Woman are both endangered species. Overtime we have seen the feminine instinctive nature looted, driven back and overbuilt. For long periods it has been mismanaged like the wildlife and the wildlands. The spiritual lands of Wild Woman have throughout history been plundered or burnt, dens bulldozed and natural cycles forced into unnatural rhythms to please others. It is not by accident the pristine wilderness of our planet disappears as the understanding of our own inner wild nature fades…The modern woman is a blur of activity. She is pressured to be all things to all people. The old knowing is long overdue” ~ Clarissa Pinkola Estes
